Handicap (GHIN)
The
North Central Pennsylvania Golf Association began administering
the GHIN (Golfers
Handicapping and Information Network) system to member clubs in
1989. This system, which is fully supported by the USGA, offers
an affordable and uniform procedure for handicapping all golfers.
The computerized service allows member clubs the ability to inquire
into any golfers scoring history and retrieve a current handicap
index for that player, provided that golfer has a GHIN handicap
number. The GHIN system facilitates guest score entry and then routes
that players score, adjusted for the slope and rating of the host
course, back to the home club of the guest. GHIN is a true handicap
network, serving over one and a half million golfers nationwide.
It is also one of the few sources of revenue for the North Central
Pennsylvania Golf Association.
